A REQUEST TO ALL FRIENDS/ FELLOW BLOGGERS

Dear all,

This blog is particularly in response to the post written by Ms Sadiya Rao. A common friend of both of us is currently going through some critical problems. She wrote a blog in support of him, mainly addressed to him which was a reflection of the concern and solidarity for an old college time friend who is going through difficult times. It was very sensitive and well written post. However, some the fellow bloggers left such comments on the blog which were quite hurting to the writer, so much so, that she even deleted the post and decided not to write again.  In her own words as can be seen in her blog in my friends list  “Due to adverse comments I received on my blog which I had written in support of my friend, I am deleting the post and shall never write again. I thought this was a medium of expressing myself. However I am shocked & surprised at some of the comments I have received. I want to thank all those people who have posted their comments & discouraged me from writing further. Thank you.”

Although personally, I am so very grateful and indebted to all the friends and fellow bloggers who have always encouraged me through their insightful and motivating comments on my blogs, however, as what has been experienced by Sadiya,  my sole request to the all the fellow bloggers here is to be careful while leaving comments on someone’s blog in a way that they do not hurt the sentiments of the person. We all have right to express our views but even if we are being critical about some thing and want to give opposite views, please choose the right words. Also there is no point in expressing the different views if the post is too personal and does not reflect a world view. I think the blog is a medium where people not only can express what they strongly feel about but also learn from each others’ experiences. That’s the reason why we allow each other to read that is some thing very personal to us.  I have also  seen many bloggers, who just began by reading others’ blogs eventually ended up writing and expressing themselves. The encouraging comments have even motivated them to write more.  So please leave your comments but be careful on what post you are leaving the comments and that your comments do not discourage the writer from expressing himself/ herself again.  Hope this post is taken in the right spirit.
